WBE Canada’s Annual Awards of Excellence celebrate the outstanding individuals and organizations advancing inclusive procurement and supplier diversity across Canada. These prestigious awards recognize women entrepreneurs, corporations, and champions of supplier inclusion who are creating meaningful opportunities for women-owned businesses within corporate and government supply chains, both nationally and internationally.

When Carla Parslow founded Parslow Heritage Consultancy Inc. (PHC) in 2019, she set out to build the kind of company she wished had existed earlier in her own career. Today, the Ontario-based cultural resource management firm has grown from one full-time employee and a small seasonal team to a thriving business with 62 employees, providing archaeological assessments that help protect Ontario's archaeological sites, artifacts, historic buildings, and cultural landscapes before development begins.

Since 2008, TBD Telecom By Design Inc. has been helping organizations across Canada build the reliable network infrastructure needed to support today's operations and tomorrow's innovation.

Natalia Smalyuk started NBAU (Not Business As Usual) Consulting in January 2021 with a mandate to help leaders navigate complex challenges, prepare for high-stakes moments and communicate under pressure. Basically, to support organizations large and small in finding solutions to the kinds of challenges that can disrupt seemingly smooth day-to-day operations. Or, as Natalia likes to say, wicked messes. 

In April, WBE Canada’s President, Dr. Georgette Zinaty travelled to Hong Kong as part of the Canadian contingent taking part in the 2026 Women Power Forum. In her keynote speech “Why Not You”, Dr. Zinaty shared the importance of collaboration vs competition as women come together to drive the future, moving from local success to global economic power.

Stories from the “COVID Years” featuring Canadian women business owners often highlight pivots, resilience, downsizing, and reinvention - sometimes even closure. Rarely do they include the word “start-up.”
